INTERSECTION is a joint creative project by artists Paolo Maggis and Vanessa Pey, born from the often existential points of connection between their works. It becomes a creature of its own, with the desire to grow and evolve organically and fluidly alongside them. Moving through spaces together and recreating them anew through their intervention becomes an act of emotional understanding.
Paolo Maggis and Vanessa Pey, both observers of the human being and of humanity’s need for transformation, develop a vision that is often darkened yet ultimately redemptive. The murky that heals, that transmutes into light despite every hardship. Hitting rock bottom before rising again becomes almost a choice. Spaces are activated and transformed through their shared and characteristic darkness, at times adorned with luminous fluorescent accents that remind us that the path of transformation is itself also light.
Intersection#3 was presented within the framework of Museum Night in Alcover. In this third edition, the artists encounter a religious space that is both imposing and intimate, allowing them to explore the identity of a human being transformed through the body and through movement. Speaking of a poetic and sensual being who finds in instability and imbalance their very form of existence becomes a necessity; and this time the work not only approaches the space itself, but also intersects with the religious artwork it contains.
In the intersection, I am a little bit you and a little bit everything.
I step into a shared territory dressed in darkness, in a spontaneous and deliberate plural exploration that runs through me, that runs through us: we become a choral will, freely choosing here and now to dissolve ourselves.
And here and now I am a little bit more everything.
And, as a result, a little bit more myself.
